slam a door shut before my muse can leave the room

I interpreted this as him slamming and blocking the door so she can’t leave- I’m not sure if you were going for him exiting the room and slamming the door in her face before she can leave, but I can edit/change her response if I need to.

This is set around the beginning of the RED team/start of their involvement in the gravel wars  

“Oh? Excuse me?”

Messenger stared at The Scout blocking her exit with a dead-pan smile that didn’t reach her eyes. Being stopped and kept in a location was not something that sat well with her. Here she was trying to make a decent first impression on her new teammates and the gangly speedracer had to go and be like that. Not that she was entirely surprised: when Helen had first given her the rundown on her new (permanent) assignment, she had seen the ages (some approximations) on everyone’s files. Scout’s had made her groan. She had enough problems with the immaturity and bravado of men her own age, let alone one five years younger.

She wasn’t the best with concealing irritation. 

“Can I help you?”
